  • Lawn substitutes can be a great alternative in small courtyards.
  • Plants such as dichondra or kidney weed grows in full sun or light shade and will take some foot traffic but would not handle a solid game of football.
  • If you are looking for pretty flowers lippia grows in full sun and can survive one drink per week in summer.
  • Ground hugging herbs such as Thyme can make superb lawns and when you walk on them the delicious aroma of the sea wafts up to your nostrils.
  • For a hint of mint Corsican mint keeps a low profile and must have shade.
