More than half of domestic scheme water consumption is used in the garden! That is why it’s so important to ensure your irrigation system is installed properly so that it works efficiently. The Water Corporation has partnered with Irrigation Australia to develop a national standard design to ensure water is applied correctly, without waste.

Waterwise Garden Irrigator Program

• This partnership has resulted in the Waterwise Garden Irrigator Program being established and re-modelled into the most effective of all of the Corporation’s Waterwise programs.
• There are 60 Waterwise Garden Irrigators spread over all of WA’s major population centres from Albany, Bunbury, out to Kalgoorlie, Perth and Geraldton.
• The development of national standards for installations has revealed a staggering improvement in water efficiency that can be achieved by commercial irrigators compared to the typical DIY job.            
• Training based on this information has been developed and conducted, and in excess of 120 irrigators have undertaken the training. This is resulting in the in the installation of irrigation systems that deliver water with an efficiency rate 40% greater than system installed by the average DIY person.                           
• A Waterwise Irrigation Design Shop program has been established and is being expanded and made available to additional irrigation outlets.

Waterwise Gardening Tips

The Water Corporation have just unveiled a new exemption structure that allows gardeners to establish new lawn and gardens with additional watering. This means that gardeners must meet minimum irrigation and garden standards before they are issued with an exemption certificate. This guide is now available online by following the link below:
