Episode: #27 1/12/07
Presenter: Phil Dudman

Christmas is fast approaching and if you are anything like me you could probably do with a little bit of help in getting ready. The good news is the expert team at Botanix Lifestyle and Garden Centre are ready to help with loads of wonderful ideas.

Our first stop is the outdoor furniture department and according to Colin the furniture specialist there is something at there for everyone.

Interview with Colin Morris:

Colin Morris: We have over 800 square metres of settings so I am sure there is something here to suit everybody.

Phil: So Colin what is the most important thing when it comes to choosing outdoor furniture?

Colin: Phil, it is style and comfit. It has to feel good, it has to be good. Then next I would say durability it has to last, that is why we carry the better known brands.
Phil: And with the crew arriving soon for the festive season I guess now is the time to choose something?
Colin: That’s right Phil don’t leave it too late.
Next it is out to the nursery to see Kate Fitzgerald the Botanix Horticulturalist.
Phil: So Kate what is new in the nursery this Christmas?
Kate: Well Phil we are asking people to get real this Christmas, we have beautiful Norfolk Island Pines, part of our heritage, and beyond the Christmas season they make magnificent long lived potted specimens so they not only serve the purpose for Christmas but all year round.
Phil: And I see you have got some lovely gift ideas as well?
Kate: Stunning Peace Lilys (Spathiphyllum Hybrid Cultivar ‘Sensation’) with large green leaves, beautiful white flowers, and would make a wonderful gift as well as dressing up the house for the Christmas season.
And talking about decorating, Kathy Clark from the Gift shop has some great ideas as well.
Kathy: we have these fantastic new cast-iron slays that you can pop in the front yard or you can pop them inside and pop your pressies in underneath the tree. For something more traditional we have these beautiful Alaskan pre lit trees that come in three sizes. Aren’t they beautiful?
Phil: they sure are Kathy, but what have you got for me to dress up my Christmas tree?
Kathy: Well this season we have got the beautiful new fairies and new bird cages, they have proven to be really popular this season.
So there you go, you have got plants, Christmas shopping, outdoor furniture all in the one location. Then you can sit down and enjoy a scrumptious meal at the Botanix Cafe who could ask for more.
