What to Do: Springtime on the Mountain Festival

Episode: # 21 09/06/07
Presenter: Phil Dudman

Spring is bursting in all its glory. In south east Queensland, there is no better place to experience this magical season than the beautiful Tamborine Mountain. One of the very best times to visit is in the last weekend of September. That’s when the annual ‘Springtime on the Mountain’ Festival takes place and it attracts thousands and thousands of visitors every year.

They have what is called the ‘Open Gardens Trail’ and it takes you on a delightful journey of discovery where you’ll get to see 10 magnificent open gardens, as well as floral displays, live music, plant stalls, art exhibits and heaps of other fun things to see and do.

It’s a full day out and there’s no need to bring anything. There are lots of food stalls and you can even purchase a local gourmet picnic pack. Many of the gardens offer picnic spots where you can take in magnificent mountain views.

Plant lovers will be in heaven because there are some fabulous nurseries to visit on the trail and the Tamborine Mountain Nursery is one of the finest. This is where you’ll pick up all of those cool climate gems that can be hard to find elsewhere.

There are beautiful Magnolias and Michelias at the nursery with over 50 varieties to choose from, all of them look magnificent during the spring. The nursery also stocks a wonderful range of Lavenders, Fuchsias, and Camellias in colours and styles you never knew existed.

Tamborine Mountain Nursery is a true collector’s nursery. All the staff are cool climate specialists and can give you all the advice you need to grow them in your own garden, they can also arrange delivery for almost anywhere.

The Tamborine Mountain Nursery is open every day, and is certainly one stop you don’t want to miss during the ‘Springtime on the Mountain’ Festival.

The festival takes place from Friday 28th through to Sunday 30th of September.
