To help your plants produce more flowers, one of the essential nutrients needed in the soil is potassium. When you are next in your local nursery look out for Thrive Fruit and Flower which is specially formulated for, you guessed it, flowers and fruit. Another tip if you what to see results fast, liquid fertilisers are the way to go as they are absorbed through the leaves and are faster acting in the root zone.

To get the best out of your plants you also really need to grow them where they are going to cope best. Princess Lily (Alstromeria, Hybrid Cultivar) really love the dapple shade and look great as an under story planting.

If you have weeds close to the stems of your plants then a great trick is to cut the bottom out of an old plastic container and put them over your weed and spray the weed. The container acts as a shield and prevents over spray.
