Ryobi Line Trimmer
Episode: #10 4/11/06
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Lawn Care has never been easier than it is today. For a start most city gardens are smaller and lawns are playing a smaller part of the home landscape than ever before. The role however is still very important as the lawn cools a garden and acts as a pollutant absorber which is great for our environment.
Weeds are sometimes a problem and controlling them in lawns can be a struggle at the best of times. Selective spraying is one way to go but another very effective thing to do is to mow more regularly during summer. This is the most effective way to control broadleaf weeds in particular.
When it comes to keeping the lawn tidy then a line trimmer is a must. These days you don?t need some thing that is heavy or takes up a lot of room. Electric line trimmers are light weight and the new Ryobi RLT 3725 is powerful and simple to use machine ideal for small and medium sized gardens.
It has a few unique features that make using it easier. For a start it has an extendable shaft which is great if you are a bit taller or a touch shorter than Mr average who the normal machines are built for. The head can also swivel allowing it to become an edger which is another great feature
It has a 25mm cutting width which allows you to get the job done quicker. Regular trimming of edges will retard the grasses ambitions to grow into garden beds as well. Most importantly it is lightweight and this makes the job less strenuous.
When it comes to keeping weeds out of the lawn an occasional feed, about once every 6 weeks in summer, with a controlled release lawn food will keep the grass growing at its optimal levels and this will have it out competing weeds for light.
