How would you like to win a landscape package to the value of $20 000? It would be fantastic and would go a long way to turning many peoples dreams into reality and in most cases complete a garden and have something left over for pots and the finishing touches.

Waldecks Garden Centres are giving our viewers a chance to win a fabulous landscape package, which will be installed by their own landscaping team. All you have to do is visit www.waldecks.com.au and download the entry form, then drop it into a Waldecks store. You can even enter as many time as you like.

As an added bonus there is a draw for a $200 voucher every week that you can spend on anything you like in the store. A great tip is to check out some of the fantastic new and recent release plants that are available in the garden centres.

Many new Lavenders are bred every year and have captured the imagination of many gardeners right around the world. A new series bred here in Australia is the Ruffles series. Lavenders really are very tough and this range has been selected for their compact habit. Many of the older varieties tended to get a bit straggly, so a bushy plant has been welcomed by many.

Mulberry Ruffles has deep pink flowers and Blue berry Ruffles has striking purple and blue flowers and they look stunning as a hedge or grown in pots. Their main flowering time is late winter through spring and a light trim after flowering will keep them bushy.

Silver foliage plants occasionally drop dead if they get pruned back extra hard, say at or close to ground level. So if you have a lavender hedge that needs a hard prune, do it in stages. Trim a few of the branches at a time over a period of a few weeks.

Gauras add lot of colour at this time of the year. One variety that may catch your eye is the Passionate Rainbow. With its prolific display of bright pink flowers it contrasts against gold and pink foliage. These plants are perfect for small spaces and it will add colour to the garden from spring into winter. There are 2 other varieties in the range and they keep their colour through winter.

If all the colour has inspired you to add some to your garden, why not go for a drive to the Swan Valley and call into Waldecks. One of the team members you will find is Rachel who is the manager and has been with Waldecks for 5 years.

Plants going out the door really need to be helped along with some good organic matter as our soils are not very good. So Waldecks is going to help them along and offer manure at a very special price of 4 for $14.99.
