The Garden Gurus Tools

Episode: #2 09/09/2006
Presenter: Friona Bruyn
Everyone knows it is impossible to do a job properly if you do not have the correct tools.
The same rule applies when it comes to gardening, so for this reason the Garden Gurus have come up with their own collection of ergonomic hard wearing garden tools with a 5 year guarantee that will help to make gardening a pleasure and not a chore.
The tool used in most gardens would have to be the secateurs. All of the bypass pruners in the range have blades made of highly polished Japanese steel.
The ladies bypass pruners are specifically designed for people with smaller hands. They have an ambidextrous thumb lock, non slip inserts and extra large bolster for support and safety. The cutting capacity is 20mm.
If you prefer pruners with a bit more grunt, the professional bypass pruner will suit you down to a tee. It is perfect for larger branches with a cutting capacity of 25mm.
When you are working all day in the garden you really should have your secateurs close at hand. Putting them down on the ground during a pruning session means you are bound to lose them amongst the trimmings . That is why the combination bypass pruner and holster make such a good pair. All you need is a belt to keep you pants and the holster in place.
To reach those hard to get fruit and flowers the long reach picker rotates 180 degrees to get the perfect cutting angle, cuts and then holds until you get your reward safely down to ground level. It has a cutting capacity of 15mm.
Sooner or later you will come across a branch that is just too thick to cut with secateurs. That is when its time to bring out the bypass loppers.
There are 3 different types:
Easy access bypass lopper -for branches close to the trunk, plus a handy bypass lopper both with a 25mm cutting diameter.
Extra thick branches up to 35mm will cut like butter with the easy access bypass lever action lopper.
To top off the collection you will always need a few hand tools for small jobs. All four are ergonomically designed and have contoured non slip grip handles with beautiful mirror finish in aluminium.
The weeder is great for removing deep rooted weeds like dandelion then the cultivator and fork for turning over and loosening up the soil and of course it would not be complete without a hand spade for potting up and transplanting.
They are all so beautiful it is almost a shame to get them dirty. Any of the garden guru tools would be a handy addition to your collection.
