Episode: #1 30/08/06 Proudly Presented byYates
Presenter: Neville Passmore
Rose Porteus would have to be one of Perth's best know home owners. Neville visited the old site of her home, Prix D'Amour, which has been sold in blocks and is being redeveloped. Rose has plans to build her own guesthouse on the site for her and her pooches, with a small garden featuring some of her favourite flowers; roses. The Angel Face rose has a beautiful mauve blooms with the sweetest fragrance imaginable. It is a compact bush with repeat flowering that is better suited to warmer climates, perhaps because the colour tones are brought out with plenty of sunshine. Mister Lincoln roses are slightly fuller sized but still a great form on a standard. Growth is extremely vigorous so perhaps not suited for bedding but superb for the back row of the rose bed. The quality and fragrance of the blooms definitely attracts attention. Just Joey offers a quality of blooms rather than quantity and this is the key to appreciating it. An absolutely amazing display after it has been planted for a couple of years. More than worth the wait!! The Iceberg is deservedly the most popular Floribunda Rose for decades and will be a favourite for years to come. Vigorous and disease resistant, great form for hedging and masses of classic white blooms. Its dainty bloom looks great, is easy to care for and the colour blends with almost anything!
