Rejuvenating Soil in a Raised Planter

Story: Rejuvenating Soil in a Raised Planter
Episode: 2
Presenter: Bonnie-Marie Hibbs
Air Date: 29 Aug 2026

Bonnie spends some time restoring the soil in one of her raised garden beds to ensure it it’s ready to be productive as we come into Spring.

  • Bonnie notices that the soil in this planter is very compacted. But first, she makes room by removing plants which are seeding.
  • Compacted soil means reduced airflow, making it harder for water and young roots to permeate. It’s best to loosen the soil with a garden fork and then add compost to improve structure.
  • Bonnie also adds some Troforte Rejuven8tor, a product that will help bring the soil back to life with its controlled release fertiliser, beneficial microbes and minerals.
  • With this freshened up soil, Bonnie plants some coriander which grows well in early spring temperatures.
  • The final steps are to water everything thing and then add mulch.
