Melissa like many viewer like to keep up with the latest trends and the good news is that colour has made a serious comeback! The best way to bring in-your face colour to the garden is to plant annuals, so Melissa has a look at some of the hottest new releases and gives you some tips to guarantee a killer display.
If your area is hot and dry Portulacas are a perfect choice. This one is called Oranges and Lemons, so it is covered in citrusy flowers and great in pots and hanging baskets. This is a new spreading petunia called Popcorn, which is smothered in creamy yellow flowers that look like they have been drizzled with butter. Strawberry Sunday is another great name with swirls of strawberry flowers and for pots and hanging baskets you can’t beat Geraniums.
When you hear the name Hoover you think vacuum cleaner, when you hear the name Seasol you think seaweed based plant tonic. It has been a favourite of gardeners for so long now that it has become part of our vocabulary.
Seasol is a natural tonic and growth stimulant a real pick me up for plants. It stimulates the root system of the plant and increases the reproductive capacity which means more flowers per plant and loads of colour!
