Bromeliads
Episode: New Zealand Ellerslie International Flower Show
Presenter:Trevor Cochrane
Bromeliads are fast becoming one of the trendiest plants in landscaping which is not surprising as it is such a diverse plant with different shapes and sizes and foliage colours.
You can also use them in different ways in the garden, for example in pots, in the ground or even on the side of a tree.
Testament to their popularity, the Judges award for the best plant on show gold medal winner went to Vriesea Hybrid Cultivar ?Kiwi Sunset? which is an absolute beauty.
The silver medal went to Vase Plant or Imperial Bromeliad (Alcantarea vinicolor) awarded for its perfect shape and beautiful plum coloured foliage.
If you like bromeliads and would like to know more why not go along to the 2007 Bromeliad Fiesta on the 24th and 25th of February at Mt Eden War Memorial Hall, 489 Dominion Road (Balmoral) Auckland.
