Mark out the area, keep checking the design just to make sure you have everything in the right place. Now, it?s time to start digging. You can hire a trenching machine, however for small areas, using a spade and trenching shovel will get the job done fairly quickly.
Once the lines are dug, it is time to start laying our 19mm poly tube. If you find the tube starting to curl, then push some soil on top as that will hold it in place. Depending on your garden?s water pressure, you might need to run your sprinklers in stages. While this can be done manually, Kim recommends an automatic system using solenoid valves.
An automatic controller turns the solenoid valves on and off. You can control the amount of water you want, when you want it. No more forgetting to turn off the sprinkler before going to bed.
If you want even more water saving additions, then a rain sensor will shut down your irrigation system if there has been enough natural rainfall to keep the garden happy.
