Episode: #5 30/09/2006
Presenter: Kim Syrus
There have been some big changes happening to the Garden Centre at Bunnings Mile End and its all good news.
From the moment you enter, there is a different feel. The new layout really gives customers space to move and appreciate a total plant experience. The range is incredible - potted colour by the tray full, seedlings to fill both your plate and your garden. Then there are the shrubs, the trees, the roses and Australian natives and so many fantastic water wise plants. There is even Venus Fly Traps!
With a motto of ?Lowest Prices Guaranteed? you know you are also getting super value as well.
It is not just the plants that excite. The large racks at the back are filled with a huge array of ceramic and terracotta pots and with great staff to advise, you won?t go potty choosing!
After selecting your pot, you will need some potting mix, remember a good quality potting mix will give you good quality plants. That is why Hortico Potting mix is a great choice. Available in both a Premium Blend (red ticks) and General Purpose (Black ticks).
Brand new and exclusive to Bunnings is the new Outdoor Canvas range, a brilliant collection of hardy, low water use plants that, importantly, are all grown in South Australia to suit the local conditions
The Outdoor Canvas collection includes a great choice of Cordylines like the beautifully clumping, evergreen Cordyline Kirkii that only grows to 1 metre. If ruby red and burgundy are your colours, then have a look at the Cordyline Red Star. An absolute stunner.
If you are looking for low maintenance, and low growing then Libertias are your answer. The strappy leaved plants only grow to 60cm, ideal for edges and borders. Libertia Gold Finger will wow the rest of your garden with its light colour contrast. Libertia Taupo Blaze will surprise with vivid tones of burnt orange, yellow and red highlights during Autumn.
The New Zealand Flax or Phormiums are well known super tough garden plants. With 9 new varieties and a huge choice of colours and sizes, you will have no trouble in finding one in the Outdoor Canvas range to suit your garden.
All lawns are crying out to be feed right now. The Hortico Lawn Food in the 10kg bag is great for boosting your turf with the right balance of nutrients and trace elements
