Trevor shares practical advice on tackling fungal disease in lavender, pruning summer-damaged kiwi vines, managing weeds in lawns and choosing the right potting mix.

• Lavender – Fungal diseases may be managed with an appropriate fungicide, such as Yates Mancozeb Plus, used according to label directions.
• Kiwi Vines – Remove dead wood and prune out crossing runners on summer-damaged vines. As natural climbers, kiwi vines can be trained to grow in the desired direction.
• Weed-Filled Lawns – Frequent mowing over a couple of months may help desirable flat-leaved grasses recover. A suitable lawn herbicide can also help control weeds.
• Potting Mix – While you can make your own, raw materials vary in quality. Buying a reliable mix, such as Scotts Osmocote’s The Best potting mix, can be a simpler option.
