• Darren gives some tips on how to maintaine an irrigation system. Regular maintenance is key, an irrigation system keeps your garden healthy during hot, dry weather, but without upkeep it can fail when you need it most.
• Check valves and leaks. If a station won’t shut off, clean or replace the valve. Look out for low pressure or pools of water, which often indicate a leak.
• Clear blocked sprinklers, dirt, cracked pipes, or ants can clog nozzles. Flush the sprinkler or replace badly blocked ones to ensure even water flow.
• Watch for plant shadowing, growing plants can block sprinkler spray. Trim back foliage or raise sprinklers to restore full coverage.
• Test and update your system,use catch cups or tins to check even watering. Regularly review your controller’s settings or upgrade to a smart controller for water efficiency.
